Diving club Roniti se mora, with the support of C.I.O.S. group, the Fund for Environmental Protection and Energy Efficiency and National Geographic Croatia, as partners in the project, successfully completed the 26th environmental action Think Green on the island of Vis.
The action lasted for three days, and 48 divers cleaned the bay of Stonca, the underwater area in front of Češka villa and Oključna bay. More than 12 tons of waste, 12,150 kg or 27 cubic meters to be exact, were collected.
Metal constructions, batteries, construction waste, boat parts and truck tires – these are just some of the items collected, while more than 700 bags were needed for smaller waste, such as glass, cans and plastic. Members of the C.I.O.S. group, which provided comprehensive logistical support, will properly dispose of all the waste collected and transported from the island during the campaign.
The divers collectively spent more than 400 working hours under water, along with the participation of the volunteers from the Diving Club Roniti se mora Zagreb and Šibenik.
By the way, the Club has been organizing Think Green actions for the last eleven years, cleaning the sea, rivers and lakes throughout Croatia, and in addition to cleaning, the action is also educational, which ultimately raises environmental awareness and informs the public about the problem of environmental pollution.
